Response to Blacksmith Feature
I think the feature article "Blacksmith" had a very relaxing tone. The man who this article was based on seemed to be quite proud of his job, and he knew was he was doing. As the reader I could tell that he had an emotional attachment to what he did, and he took pride in shoeing each horse individually. In the article he mentions that he sometimes thought of other jobs yet he knew that the he was only taking for granted his current job. The theme was set by the setting, which the writer describes as being out in the suburbs of the noisy town of Los Angeles. The paved roads turn into dirt and while the mansians disappear barns start to bloom near the open grassy fields. All in all thoughout the article I felt sentimental and humble tones and I personally though the best quote was, "You have to be sensitive to what they want and to how they're feeling, and you have to know the difference between scared and belligerent.". However I wasn't impressed with the lead, I don't think it really emphasizes the rest of the article. It was relevent to the theme yet it could have mentioned something about horses or about shoeing horses.
